Welcome to the land of many coffee shops.
I have lived in the outskirts of Los Angeles for most of my life ( apart from the 2 1/2 years that I lived in Washington state!) It is safe that say that I have been in and around the many neighborhoods of this great city, and I still have not even come close to seeing all of the amazing places, restaurants, and shops that it has to offer! There are so many hidden gems that it can be hard to believe that I really live so close to all of this. It is all within my reach, and yet somehow these must visit locales have slipped through my grasp. This past weekend I decided that it would be the perfect time to check off some of the places I have desired to visit for too long!
But first, coffee.
The first stop on the list was Alfred coffee. Not only is this place supposed to have an incredible aesthetic (totally true!), but I heard the drinks were well worth the wait and the battle for parking. ( Also, incredibly true!) I ordered the iced vanilla latte with soy milk, and boy was that first sip an experience! Starbucks who? The flavor was rich and smooth, the staff was friendly, and the sidewalk art, and bold signs were playful and fun! If you are into coffee, in need of a pick me up, or just into taking a lot of Instagram worthy snaps, I would definitely recommend a stop here if you have not tried it yet!

Can we all just get oolong?
Now if tea is more your style, (I can go either way on any given day) there is also an Alfred tea room, which really amps up the Instagram worthy vibes, and sells some adorable merch to go with your beautifully crafted tea. I tried the peppermint iced tea, which was pretty strong, but also very refreshing. I am not always a fan of peppermint, but it is definitely worth a shot if you are! There are plenty of delicious options on the menu, most of which I had not considered when thinking of tea. Add milk? Sure, why not?
Overall, this place was adorable! I also picked out some fun pencils and resisted the temptation to grab a cute coffee mug before heading out the door! Definitely check it out if you are in the neighborhood!

The Social Type

My current favorite LA obsession is The Social Type! This amazing store carries the finest paper goods, adorable matchboxes, and just about anything to fulfill your gifting needs and more! Just stepping in the front door fills you with excitement as your eyes meet with hologram foil, bright pops of color, and shelves lined with magic! ( Seriously!) With two whole walls of quirky, fun, and fantastic cards, large bookshelves featuring products of many talented makers, and an overall inviting vibe, this is a definite must visit!
This was my second visit to the store, and each time co-owner Jessica has greeted me with a great attitude and welcoming smile. It is so awesome to see someone passionate about their business, and an active participant in it's promotion. Being a small business owner myself, it is inspiring to see the success that the ladies of The Social Type have achieved. It is also fun to see the new things that they come out with! ( Hello HOLLA-GRAM collection!) I am such a fan of this fantastic shop that I purchase a lot of the products I use for my gift boxes here! If you are in the neighborhood as a fellow small business owner, or you simply want to check out some fun products for you are or a loved one, make a stop at this lovely location and be prepared to be amazed! Serious heart eyes!
I'm not much of a night owl, so as the sun sets, I start thinking of getting back home and relaxing in bed. LA will continue to thrive throughout the night and well into morning, and the hustle and bustle starts all over again when the sun rises. If you live here now, or are just here to visit, there is so much to discover in this city, and so many amazing places to explore. Go for a drive, get out and take a walk, I promise you won't be disappointed by what you find. :)
